JOB DETAILS:

The success of Army missions depends on keeping the Bradley Fighting Vehicle fleet in top working condition. As an integral member of the mechanical maintenance team, the Bradley Fighting Vehicle System Maintainer handles the maintenance and repair of the M2/M3, A2/A3 Bradley Fighting Vehicle, the M6 Bradley Linebacker Air Defense Vehicle and the M-7 Bradley Fire Support Team Vehicle.

Some of your duties as a Bradley Fighting Vehicle System Maintainer may include:

-Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions and performs maintenance and on-board direct support tasks on the Bradley Fighting Vehicle suspension systems, steering systems
-Perform maintenance on fire extinguisher and suppression systems
-Perform maintenance on gas particulate systems, vehicular mounted armament, and associated fire control systems

 
Job training for a Bradley Fighting Vehicle System Maintainer requires nine weeks of Basic Training, where you'll learn basic Soldiering skills, and 13 weeks of Advanced Individual Training. Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field. Some of the skills you'll learn are:

-Engine repair and tune-up
-Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems
-Repair and replace body panels, fenders, power packs, weapons systems and radiators
 
Helpful skills:
-An interest in auto mechanics and the industrial arts
-A preference for physical work
-An interest in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical problems
-An interest in automotive engines and how they work
 
Advanced level Bradley Fighting Vehicle System Maintainers provide guidance, supervise and train other Soldiers within the same discipline. As an advanced level Bradley Fighting Vehicle System Maintainers you may be involved in:

Diagnose and correct malfunctions of various subsystems, performs on-board direct support tasks i.e., major assembly replacement
Assist skill level one soldiers with troubleshooting and maintenance tasks
Supervise recovery operations, and performs BDAR on all systems
Supervise the inspection and troubleshooting on Bradley Fighting Vehicle automotive and armament systems
